How To Install the
Steel Wire Clothesline

Online Installation Guide

Preparation:

The Steel Wire Clothesline is very simple to install. A few tools are needed such as:

  • Cordless Drill
  • Tape Measure
  • Level
  • Stud Finder

First, if you haven't already, plan where you will install the Steel Wire Clothesline. Since it's retractable, it can go pretty much anywhere, but ideally somewhere with a little air flow. This can be near a bedroom window, a bathroom, your garage, or a laundry room.

Installation:

It's recommended to install the main box and the clothesline receiver using wall studs. However, if you are unable to use studs, wall anchors have been included as well.

To start, using a stud finder, locate the studs you would like to use. Next, measure from the floor to the height you wish to install the main box. You'll want to take note of this measurement. When installing the clothesline receiver baseplate, position it 1" lower than the main box’s baseplate to ensure the clothesline is level.

Now, mark the holes you will use to install the baseplates to the wall. The diagram below shows which holes to use and where to place them based on the orientation of your walls' studs.

Now that you've created your marks, the next step is to drill pilot holes for your screws. Take your cordless drill and select a 7/64" drill bit. Once you've completed drilling the pilot holes, switch the drill bit to a Phillips screwdriver bit and use the included screws to install the baseplates to the wall.

Note: Included screws are size #10, 3/16"

Now for the final steps. To attach the main box to its baseplate, place the main box over the baseplate at a 95-degree angle (just slightly angled to the right) and now turn the main box counterclockwise until you feel the baseplate hooks interlock with the main box. Now gently slide the main box downwards locking it into position. To attach the clothesline receiver, simply place it over the baseplate and firmly press down until it clicks into place.

After connecting the clothesline to the clothesline receiver, turn the knob on the main box to its "LOCK" position. This keeps the clothesline taut while in use.

Congratulations! We hope you enjoy your new Steel Wire Clothesline. Thank you so much for your purchase and happy drying!

Note: If you need to remove the clothesline receiver in the future, insert a flat-head screwdriver into the small slot on the underside of the unit. Then place a sturdy object under the shank of the screwdriver and gently press down on the screwdriver's handle until the receiver is released from the baseplate.
